Hi Everyone
Well I've started this blog to chart my success or failure in escaping the teaching profession. I was tired and discouraged by the abuse I was receiving day in, day out, in the classroom with very little authority to counter it and so started to look at ways to escape.
My wife and I were keen to make a difference in the world and wanted to pursue our dream of helping those who really were in need. We desperately wanted to help orphans in the third world, particularly Mozambique through www.irismin.org but as usual money was a limiting factor. Air fare to Mozambique for the 4 of us would be £3000 and a further £3000 to train and live on the mission base. The moment I resigned from my school, the comfortable £2500/ month income would stop. Hence the idea of setting up an internet business that could be worked upon from anywhere in the world and produce monthly residual income for life.
Well the good news is we did fulfill our dream, we've been out helping orphans and reaching poor families in Mozambique and I do now have a residual income of £875 per month coming in, no matter where I am in the world. The bad news for all you budding internet marketeers is that I did this through buying a second property here in the U.K. doing it up and putting students in it. Mortgages are just that little bit easier to get now, here in the U.K. and the rates are rock bottom. I pay an amazingly low 2.25% variable rate, my four students pay me £325/ month each and the result is a fairly sizable profit.
My headmistress told me that if I wanted to go and help orphans for three months that no sabbatical would be granted and that I would lose my job. She kept her promise! So my family returned to the U.K. a couple of weeks ago after completing our volunteering out in Mozambique to.....no work. The recession really has hit hard. I thought I would pick up another teaching job easily (not that I actually really want to) but all as I've managed is a supply cover job at two days per week. I still need the extra income to make up my previous salary, hence I feel it is time to really look into this internet business again.
So I'm going to have a real try at trying to set up an internet business for real. I now have the time to spend on this properly and the financial pressure to motivate me to get this to work. One thing I have learnt so far is that there are no easy 'get rich short-cuts' despite the many promises out there on the web. Internet business is definitely low risk in that the start up costs are practically nothing but as with any business the cost is in the time. I have spent hours surfing the web, teaching myself blogger (which you are now reading) and wordpress, fiddling about uploading web pages and getting to grips with FTP up loaders, picking domain names, researching web hosts and completing an online internet business course through the two products I've listed in the links on the right. At present I am still researching what is out there. I've been burnt a good number of times and will be writing a full review page, listing the products to avoid (so that you won't make the same mistakes as me) and those I finding helpful.
I will keep you updated on what I find out about internet marketing and hopefully be able to point you in the right direction too.
Wish me luck!
